The college was established through the glorious sacrifice of Nemgonda Dada Patil. It was named after him Nemgonda Dada Patil Night College of Arts and Commerce, Sangli. Different working and employed students from the poor section of society got the opportunity to complete their higher education in this institution. Modern Bhamashaha Shri. Nemgonda Dada Patil the younger brother of Shri. Babagonda Bhujgonda Patil, (the first advocate of the Jain community in Sangli) was born on 18th January 1910 at Samdoli, Dist-Sangli. He had a keen eye for the future. He was prudent, intelligent and experimentalist. In the pre-independence era, women played a secondary role in the family and the society. People were orthodox about their thinking. Despite that, he had sent his wife Rajmati to Training College, Pune, for further higher education. Though Nemgonda Dada Patil was a wealthy person in society, he had supported his wife Rajmati to do a job in the education field.
